Bachenberg Named Engineer of the Year for the State of Kansas
Mr. Steven Bachenberg, P.E., Vice President of Public Works Services for BHC RHODES' was selected as the Kansas Engineer of the Year. He was presented with the award during the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers (KSPE) annual meeting held in Wichita, Kansas on June 22.
Bachenberg's nomination for the state title came on the heels of being named Engineer of the Year by the Eastern Chapter of KSPE in March. Each chapter submitted their local winners to the state level hoping to gain the state title for their member. "Steve has distinguished himself among his peers through his leadership activities within our professional society, his volunteer efforts in his community and his distinguished work as a consulting engineer. I have most appreciated his contributions to the legislative outreach activities of KSPE. His recognition is well earned," said Mr. Ron Gaches, Executive Director, Kansas Society of Professional Engineers.
Bachenberg has been working in the transportation field for forty-one years and has been an active member in KSPE since 1970, having held all board positions at the chapter level. Over his career, he has worked in conjunction with cities, counties and rural communities from infrastructure planning to underground utility design. His current engineering focus in on the Kansas State Avenue corridor transit improvements for the Kansas City Area Transit Authority (KCATA).
