Navigating Local Permits |
 With the increase in local telecommunications companies
placing facilities in public rights of way, local governing
agencies began to more strictly regulate the carrier’s
use of those rights of way. BHC RHODES participated in a panel
presentation and discussion concerning the major issues
the carriers faced when dealing with local agencies. The
presentation helped educate carriers on the agencies’
need and responsibility to manage their rights of way
for the public. These responsibilities lead to ever increasing
regulations. The presentation emphasized that if carriers
recognize and address agencies’ concerns up front,
permit processing will be carried out in a more timely manner.
The presentation concluded with strategies that the carriers
could use to help streamline their permitting processes. |
